Are Your Habits Helping You Reach Your Dreams? Part 1

Are your habits helping you reach the life you dream of?  We all have habits.  Some of these habits are healthy and supportive, like brushing your teeth.  Some of the habits we have are unsupportive and distracting us from the life we want love to live.

What are Habits?

Our habits are the external reflection of our inner thoughts and beliefs.  Our thoughts move from our inner world to our outer world in the form of behaviors and actions.  These actions become habits as we repeat them over and over when we have certain thoughts.  You probably have watched someone biting their nails because they are feeling anxious and thinking anxious thoughts.  Sometimes we are aware of these habits and sometimes these habits happen unconsciously.

How Can You Change Your Habits?  

The first step is to develop a great vision for the life you want to create.  Make sure your vision creates a passion in your soul for something great.  If your vision is weak, your current hindering habits will destroy your motivation pretty quick.  Your vision requires you to have certain habits and behaviors, which is why this is a great starting point.  For example if you dream of reaching new levels of physical heath, your dream will require you to eat healthy, exercise and take care of your body.  Our dreams of the future become a filter for the habits that will help us reach our dreams and the habits that hinder us from reaching our dreams.  Once you filter your habits then you can begin to figure out the thoughts that are behind your habits.

What Can You Do Today?

Spend some time today writing down words that describe your vision or dreams for your life.  Feel free to dream big.  There is no point in limiting your thinking as you dream.  Once you have something that stirs some passion in you, then write down the habits that will help you move in the direction of your dreams.  You may not know all of the habits but you probably have a good idea of where to begin.
